  • Died: 05 Jun 1876, Wodehouse at age 45 1,3,4

  General Notes:

Marmaduke was born at Trapp's valley in the Albany District of the Eastern Province, Cape. He took part as his brothers did in all the "kaffir wars".

His movements from place to place of his early adult life is nowhere recorded until the time he reached Barkley East, North West Cape.

This group seems to have been dogged by misfortune during the whole of Marmaduke's life and to some extent afterwards. This group, more than the other Hulley groups, had an unfair shair of deaths and accidents in proportion to their numbers.

Marmaduke seems to have permanently settled doiwn after marriage on his farm "Glangarry", spending many years of his life there, where he died and was burried.

Marmaduke married Eliza Alice Eales on 21 Nov 1849 1,3.,4 (Eliza Alice Eales was born on 06 Oct 1833 in Somerset East 3 and died on 06 May 1859 in Queenstown, Cape Province 3.)

Marmaduke next married Mary Ann Ekron.3
